Description

Fragrant with a delicate floral aroma and taste

Darjeeling Tea is named after the region in north-east India in which it is grown and produced.

Its history seemed to have begun with the establishment of a hill station by the British East India Company in 1835. Top quality black tea from India sometimes called 'The champagne of tea'.

Our Darjeeling FTGFOP1 First Flush is from Snow View Tea Garden. The name of the plantation is after the beautiful view of the hymalayan mountains that you can see from from it. The Tea Garden covers an area of 590 hectares and produces about 200 tonnes of tea and it is located at the foot of the hills of the Kalimpong region of Darjeeling (India) - a picturesque town in the Himalayan Mountains.

This Darjeeling  from the second flush period gets the best of the summer season as it is harvested from June. The leaves absorb maximum rain water and mature throughout the monsoon. As a result, they produce a gold-amber colour and a lighter but more fragrant aroma with a delicate taste than the other Indian black teas. It is often said to have a muscatel flavor.

Perfect as an afternoon tea

 Ingredients: Black Tea.

Heat the water 90°C, use 2tsp (3g) per cup (250ml) and brew for 2/4 minutes.

Our teas are packed in eco-friendly, recyclable, resealable pouches

Black Tea: The classics from India

"The one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once by even a glimpse would not give that glimpse for the shows of the rest of the world combined" wrote Mark Twain about the Tea Gardens in Darjeeling region. India is one of the world's leading countries in tea production and it grows some of the very best. Though it produces all varieties of tea, it is best known for its black teas, including Assam and Darjeeling.

The geography of India allows for many different climatic conditions, and the resulting teas can be distinctive from each other. In general, the black teas of India are known to be strong, but some have delicate flavours. Assam tea comes from the northeastern section of the country. Darjeeling, instead, is from the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains at altitudes of 600 to 2,000 meters. The tea is exquisite and delicately flavored and considered to be one of the finest teas in the world
